Heat up Summer

We have a 20' by 38' inground pool. I added two of these to my roof and feed a portion of the return flow through them. The water temperature has increased by 5 to 8 degrees and has allowed us to use the pool earlier, longer and later into the day with out getting cold.
The water coming off the roof on a 90 degree day is in the 105 to 110 range, not hot enough to burn should you come in contact, but hot enough to warm the pool nicely.

It does work but you have to understand how

Read the reviews before buying andI took a chance. First and formost. It is made well and DOES work. BUT, with realistic expectations and proper install! If it is 55 out it is not going to make your pool 80!!! YOU CAN NOT USE YOUR POOL PUMPS FULL FLOW!!!!!!! The flow has to slow down to have proper thermal transfer and those with leaks have to be pushing WAY to much flow. Also no one should EVER rely on teflon tape as a selant alone. Teflon is a lubricant and pipe dope is selant that is applied ontop of teflon tape! It also has to flow from one header to the other header unlike the chinese instructions say.....

The way I installed was pluged one side of each header. Then adapted with a 1.5" pvc adapter to hose bib one side and a turned down pvc with cap end that I drilled a couples holes on to regulate the flow on the other. A valve could do the same here. I also purchase a small submersable 1400gph(gph not gpm!) hooked to a hose feeding the solar panel. This affords better flow and plugged into a wall timer I can run this completely independent of the pool pump to maximize running when the sun is shining on it. Yes I change it as the season changes but with the kind you push or pull the tabs in and out this is very easy to adjust.

The reality. One panel has on average warmed the pool 6-8 compared to without. Which turned our 62-68 pool in Feb and March to 74-76(Jan was only 71-73 with the less sun and nights around 48). I will add a second(I planned for 2 but tried 1 first). And in SWFL, I have confidence that running 2 between Nov and April will keep our pool 75-80 without any other heater. Rest of the year I will just remove the pump and hose. Without a heater we didn't use the pool from November until April. Now it is useable almost the whole time even though Dec and Jan are a bit chilly still but useable!

This was very easy to install with the clear instructions. And it works great! I live in a town where it's always windy and a little cold even in summer. It's so helpful for our pool to keep warm with it! It was well worth the great price.
