I purchased this pump and filter for an 18 foot pool and it hasn't disappointed. The pump has more than enough power to circulate this pool without any issues, leaving the water crystal clear. My only issue was the instructions were very poorly written and hard to follow.

I ordered this VINGLI sand filter and pump because we live in the country and collect rainwater for our house use in a 6000 gallon cistern. Although we have a triple filtration system to filter the water as it comes into the house, the cistern itself, over time, begins to accumulate sediment. In the past I would have to completely drain the cistern in order to clean it, wasting around 4000 gallons of water in the processs. I used this pool pump to recirculate and filter the water in the cistern, and relieve the burden on the in-house filters. The filter and pump are economically priced and easy to assemble. No intake or discharge hoses are included, so one would need to provide them oneself. The ten inch tank is sized for an 8000 gallon pool, and requires 22 lbs of sand. Although this is a sand filter, two packages of filter balls are thoughtfully included. I saved those for use after I used sand to filter out the bulk of the sediment. The pump is extremely quiet and has a good flow rate. I had it right on the other side of a window, and could not hear it. I ran it for two days using sand, then switched over to the filter balls and ran it for one day. The sand picked up larger sediment, and the filter balls picked up finer material. Afterwards, the water was significantly cleaner. I believe that I can drasticly reduce the number of times that the cistern needs to be drained for cleaning. If this pump and filter worked this well for my cistern, it should work great for a pool.
I rated lower on suction power because the pump can not lift water one foot from a dry start, and
I had to put a one-way valve on the intake pipe so that it could completely prime the pump, otherwise the water would drain out. In an above ground pool, the pump would generally be located below water level.
